Rotten Rentals....

Ok ok....So I finally caved and picked up a couple of packs from Rotten Rentals. I been eyeballing this store for a little while now and thought it was about time I picked a few up. These guys have a really cool Video Of The Month service you can join to for a reasonable price. So for 3 months of the subscription service you only pay $15. This gets you One blind pack a month for all 3 months, You choice of a current pack from the store, Access to members only packs for $10, Extra trading cards in each pack,  A Video of the month card so you can pick up free packs of trading cards at conventions and such, And you are entered into a year end drawing for all sorts of goodies. (They also have 6 and 12 month memberships available.)

I was kinda hesitant to join the monthly service for now so I opted to pick out a couple of my all time favorite boxes and pick them up. These run $6 on average and they are not blind so you can choose your titles. I think shipping was little more than I tend to like to pay for something like this but it's all good.

So I picked up 2 packs I just had to have...

Sleepaway Camp & Hellraiser of course...

 The Crow City Of Angels cards...Not my favorite in the franchise since nothing was better than the original but this movie was OK.

So yea...Pretty cool for sure. Then I opened the Sleepaway Camp box and had even more fun....

 I have the box set of these on DVD and totally forgot how kitschy and fun the original case was. What's more perfect than a letter home during camp LOL.

 So to start I got another Zombie Tarot...Thinking I may need to find the whole set. This one is the Page Of Cups.

And a white Clown Monster In My Pocket.

 2 more packs of Toxic Crusaders. Seriously can you believe how twisted the person who made this into a cartoon had to have been

So yea...Final thought....If I saw these guys at a con or something I would have to pick up a few boxes for sure but I dunno if I would specifically go to the site just for these. However they do sell action figures, Trading cards, and some really cool limited edition items as well. And I got these within days of ordering which is a huge plus.

Creepy Porcelain Doll Makeup Tutorial

So I have decided to cross post this from my beauty blog as it pertains here as well and I have a completely different audience on both. If you wanna see more posts like this here let me know. And if you don't let me know that as well. If you have horror makeup ideas I would love to hear them as well.

 

 

So yea....I was a little bored today and I had been toying with the idea of doing another full Halloween/Horror type makeup. Not gonna do a full tutorial on this one but I did take a few pics along the way. Nothing special this time it is all just makeup ;)

Here are my supplies...

I started by mixing 2 of my all time favorite liquid foundations to get the kinda color I wanted. I mixed MAC Face & Body foundation in White (This was a seasonal item. It was from the Rick Baker 2013 Halloween line.) & Lancome Teint Miracle in Ivorie 2 (c). Keep in mind I have a very fair complexion so you may need a darker base color. The Lancome is a usual for me. I used this all over my face & neck including my lips and eyes.

Next I brushed on a loose powder all over. I used MAC Set Powder in Invisible. It's a nice white color. (Again this is from the Rick Baker Halloween collection 2013.)

For my cheeks I used The Balm Stainiac. This is a really cool product. It is made for cheeks and lips in a highly blendable formula. I usually use it as a lip stain but today we all know dolls have those nice red circles as cheeks. I used a very thick layer and blended it with my fingers.

Next I used a simple white Wet N Wild pencil to define my eyes. I wanted them to look very large when photographed so instead of just lining my water line and under the eyes I extended the liner to the natural crease under my lower lash line.

And here is where I started forgetting to take pics LOL. Next I used a Starlooks Kohl Eye pencil in Obsidian to make the "holes" and cracks in the porcelain. I started by drawing out a few "sharp" looking shapes and filling them in...

I used the same pencil for  the rest of the work. I lined under my Faux lashline I made with the whit pencil. I drew out the "cracks" for the chips in the porcelain. Next I used my Sephora + Pantone Universe shades of nature palette. (I freaking love this palette...all the colors go so well together!) Using a small shadow brush I used color 19-4205 to "highlight" the cracks and chips. 

For my eyes I Used color 14-2808 just above the white liner on my lid, 17-3911 in the crease, & 12-1310 to almost the brow bone.

I added 2 sets of false lashes...True Or False brand Medusa lashes on the top, Ardell 120 Demi lashes on the bottom. On the top lashes I used MAC Zoom Flash mascara.

I used Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on liner in Desperation to create my freckles.

 And finally for my lips I used TWC Lip Pencil in Laia (Just really to draw out the shape I wanted) and Be A Bombshell Lip Gloss in Hot Mess.

So yea...Kinda had fun with this spur of the moment. Could I do better...Probably. But hey...Now I know what I can improve and how to do it right! I really do hope you enjoyed this overall though. February Box Of Dread...

Ok so I gotta be honest and tell you I am a bit underwhelmed with this month's Box Of Dread. There are a few good items in the box however I know some subscribers did get this items other months and I myself would have been upset to get the same thing again. I do hope there is a system in place to keep track of who receives what just in case. Another kinda bummer...I just got my BOD today...2/27.  So yea....This month's box took a little long to get here in my opinion. 

That said the owner did keep us well informed for the most part to let us know what was going on with shipments. I understand that running a one man show is tough and I am cool with waiting it's just kinda a bummer you know. There was a letter from the owner in this box explaining all the issues and such this month and I think that showed wonderful customer care.

And on with the goodies...

 

First I got a HP Lovecraft Mouse Pad. It's nice quality and I really dig but I know this is an item that has been in past boxes. Lucky for me I am a recent subscriber and missed
out so I am super stocked I got one.

Next we have a couple items...On top we have a Business card and ACEO size card from the artist Sketch. This is an artist I have know for awhile now so these are pretty cool actually. I am thinking the ACEO with frame up quite nice. You could use it as a postcard too but I like it too much to send it out LOL.

On the bottom they sent 2 good guys doll battery stickers. I am a HUGE Child's Play fan cause I love how cheesy the films are. So yea pretty cool...just gotta find someplace to stick em. Downside...Again I know these have been in past month's boxes and I worry about getting repeats over the course of time.

 

Finally I got this wicked little guy. This is really the kinda items I am looking for in a a box. Personally I am not the hugest Twilight Zone fan but it is an awesome item to find in my box for sure! This is a mini monitor bobble head of Mystic Seer from Twilight Zone. Now while I mentioned I am not a massive fan of the show I am totally obsessed with Carnival/Freak show memorabilia so this is just perfect!

Over all so far I am still super happy with this box and service. You definitely get  what you pay for in the box. And having an owner that is so vocal and keeps us well updated it really nice. Good customer service would actually keep me subscribed even if I had a few weak boxes. Keep up the amazing work Box Of Dread!!

January Box Of Dread...

It's Here It's Here!!! Finally I got my first Box Of Dread!!

 How freakin awesome is all this!! The box is only $20 a month and shipping is free! (Or they have a 3 Month Subscription, Both types auto renew when the term is up) Not sure why I did it but I put off subscribing last month and now I wish I wouldn't have. But this moth is awesome so woohoo!

Now don't kill me but I am really not into the whole Sci-Fi/Horror kinda thing. I just like my horror to be straight up blood and guts is all. So these first 2 items are cool but they are just not really my speed of things...

First we have a set of Terminator Judgement Day trading cards. Now I never got much into trading cards because I am the asshole that has to collect everything from a series and that is just a lot of effort. Super cool subject matter though. I didnt open the package on these...

Next up is this super cool Action figure of Ash from Alien. Again I am not opening the  package but his arms and legs are articulated. This guys selling price covered the cost of box by its self.

 Next are my favorite items....Swag from Insidious 2. I know I know...I havent seen it quite yet but it's on my to do list LOL. I did love the first film and have heard good things about 2.

First there was a collapse-able water bottle. These are actually nice when we start heading to the summer music festivals since they fit in almost anything pockets included.

And my absolute favorite item in the box...An Insidious 2 lantern! Now I never gotta be ascared of the dark again LOL

Anyway if you or one of your loved ones is a huge horror fan you just gotta check out Box Of Dread.
